1. Wake-up Call

       chapter 1

I had yet to open my eyes, but I could feel the sun shining through my window and into my covered pupils. I did not want to wake up. I was still tired. I felt like I got no sleep at all. Maybe about an hour’s worth at best. “It must be around eight O’clock,” I mumbled, frustrated. There is no way I was going to open my eyes; I could already feel my eyes being blinded by the idea of light. Maybe i should get up, or at least bump my way to the bathroom to take a shower. If I make it cold enough, it could startle me awake.

At that exact moment I rmemembered. I remembered everything. I remembered last night. something I wished never-

    SLAM!

                                                         shuffle-shuffle

    Slam!

I jumped. I really should have expected it. I mean, I was living in a dorm at the time.

People are already up. MAybe I should start the day. I rolled to the edge of my mattress and hung my head over the side. I felt around for my cellphone, My face still stuffed into the pillow. I was expecting something from this phone:

    Maybe reassurance.

I have a text message. I read it. It said, “I love you.” It’s from her. I can’t believe-

    SLAM!

                                                          shuffle-shuffle

    SLAM!

I opened my eyes. They burned. I couldn’t find my phone.  I looked around in a daze. It was on my desk. I walked over to it, somberly. I picked it up and stared at it before I decided to press the button to turn it off of sleep-mode. There were no text messages and my phone was dying. I must have forgotten to charge it. I looked at the time; it was 10:37 a.m. I was late.
